DESCRIPTION:This training\, commissioned by Public Health Workplaces\, is an introduction to basic suicide awareness for everyone who works in Bedford Borough\, Central Bedfordshire\, & Milton Keynes only.  \nThis training is delivered online\, and the session is 2 hrs 30 minutes. \nAround 7\,000 people die by suicide each year in the UK and 1 in 5 will experience suicidal thoughts at some point in their life. \n \nBy attending you will:-\n\nRecognise the signs and symptoms of someone who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts.\nLearn practical tools and techniques to support a person in crisis\, including the StayAlive app.\nDevelop communication skills to engage with someone who might be at risk whilst at work and beyond.\nUnderstand the importance of early professional help and how to encourage it.\n\n  \nSpaces are limited and must be pre-booked – please see below for online dates: \nPlease click here to book. You will need to scroll on the calendar to the month you wish to book and click onto the date. DESCRIPTION:What will it cover?\nSpot the Signs is a fully funded 3-hour suicide prevention training designed for GPs\, Primary Care Network staff\, and voluntary sector employees within Hertfordshire\, UK who work with adults. It may also benefit anyone working in health or social care settings. (Please note: this training is not available to those outside the UK.) \nThe training introduces the Spot the Signs and Save a Life campaign and aims to raise awareness of suicide while providing practical steps to help attendees feel more confident recognising and responding to people who may be at risk. It creates a safe and supportive space to reflect on how societal expectations\, language\, and traditional ideas of masculinity can influence emotional wellbeing and help-seeking. \nMen’s mental health is often critically impacted by stigma and cultural norms that equate masculinity with strength\, self-reliance\, and emotional silence.
