Some suggestions to help your client enjoy the session and relax:-
- Incense or smudging or use aromatherapy oils, dim lights, play soft music, switch off telephones and mobile phones
- Stand at your client’s head and assume Kanji I or Kanji II to centre yourself. Make sure you connect to the earth and ground yourself
- Move to the person’s side and rub your hands to generate energy and warmth
- Ask to turn the outcome over to the highest good. Do not feel that you are attached to a specific outcome
- Contract your hui yin and put the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth
- Assume the first treatment position on the head and proceed through all fourteen positions, spending three to five minutes on each position
- Say to yourself ‘Reiki on’ when you touch your client for the first time (this step is optional, it works well for many people)
- Use your guidance. Let your hands guide you. When the energy smoothes out and/or the heat stops, move your hands to the next position
- Add positions if you are guided to, for example, some large people may need more positions
- It is nice (and grounding) to end the session on the client’s feet
- You may want to silently ask that the healing be used for all beings everywhere or some other prayer of healing
- When the treatment is complete suggest your client take their time getting off the table and offer them some water, as water helps flush toxins from the body. Make sure they are grounded and not feeling dizzy before you allow them to leave you!
- Wash your hands and make sure you have energetically disconnected from your client.
If you want to treat specific areas:-
- If time permits, treat the entire body first and go back to the specific area of need
- Put your left hand on the problem area with your right hand on top and perpendicular (right across left)
- Remove your hands when you feel a change in the heat, tingling or energy
If the energy does not seem to be flowing:-
- Gently lift your hands from your client’s body
- Pump your hui yin nine times
- Return your hands to the position you are treating
