What is Reiki?

Reiki is described as universal life energy. It is defined as being the power that acts and lives in all created matter. The word consists of two parts: – the syllable ‘rei’ describes the universal boundless aspect of this energy, while ‘ki’ is in itself part of rei, being the vital life force energy which flows through all living beings.

The closer we approach the basic form of this universal energy of life, the more comprehensive and effective it will become and the easier it will be to use.

Reiki is a simple and natural healing method. It is also an effective way of transferring this universal life energy. Once a person has opened up to become a ‘channel’ for Reiki the concentrated life energy will flow through your hands of its own accord and you will retain this ability for the rest of your life.

As a Reiki healer, you will have been through initiations which attune your own energy system to an increased and limitless source of energy. In a few short minutes of the attunement process you will have been given a gift that forever changes your life in every positive way. The attunement does not give anything new to you. It opens and aligns what is already there! The process is much like plugging in a lamp in a house already wired for electricity.

When you put your hands down with the intent to heal, the light has been turned on. There are three levels in the Reiki system of natural healing. However, the final level (master and teacher) is sometimes taught as two separate courses.

Reiki First Degree
Enables you to channel the healing energy to family, friends, pets, flowers, food and medicine.

Reiki Second Degree
Enables you to be a practitioner. You will learn how to use symbols and how to send distant healing. This also increases the power of the energy.

Reiki Master/Teacher
Enables you to teach all levels of Reiki and also to initiate students into the Reiki healing energy.
