What are our thoughts and feelings about people who are feeling suicidal?

It’s important to be aware and recognise our emotions and responses to hearing about suicide so we can allow for supportive connection and empathetic understanding when helping someone who is feeling suicidal.

Examples are:

  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • People who kill themselves are selfish
  • Cowards
  • Attention seekers

 
Let’s rephrase attention seekers to attention needers and try and find how the needs of that person can be better met.
