Intro

This course is suitable for anyone caring for children aged 0-12 years, or prospective parents.

Research into child development shows the importance of our early years in contributing to who we are as adults.

The aims of this course are as follows:

  • To learn about the various factors affecting child development
  • To discover the role parents can play (both positive and negative)
  • To consider your ideals of raising a child
  • To reflect on your own childhood, and how you view being a parent

Throughout this course the term parent is used to simplify language. This refers to those people who are the child’s principle care givers i.e. the biological parents, family members, adopting adults, foster parents etc.
