What will it cover?

Spot the Signs is a fully funded 3-hour suicide prevention training designed for GPs, Primary Care Network staff, and voluntary sector employees within Hertfordshire, UK who work with adults. It may also benefit anyone working in health or social care settings. (Please note: this training is not available to those outside the UK.)

The training introduces the Spot the Signs and Save a Life campaign and aims to raise awareness of suicide while providing practical steps to help attendees feel more confident recognising and responding to people who may be at risk. The session is interactive and experiential, using discussion, case studies, and videos to bring learning to life and build confidence in real-world application.

By the end of this training it is expected that you will:

  • Gain a broader understanding of people experiencing suicidal thoughts and those who may be more at risk
  • Feel more confident in spotting the signs and asking questions to identify someone at risk
  • Learn practical steps to take when someone is in distress
  • Have signposting information and an overview of local support services
  • Understand the importance of self-care when supporting others
